What does this system remove?

This system is designed to improve the quality and experience of your drinking water through mineral enhancement and hydrogen activation.

The Alka Jug helps reduce common taste and odour issues often associated with tap water, while improving the overall feel and drinkability of the water. The H₂ Essential Bottle is not a filter, instead it infuses the water with fresh molecular hydrogen for an added wellness-focused hydration experience.

This system is focused on hydration enhancement rather than comprehensive contaminant removal.

What this system does not cover

This system is not designed as a full advanced filtration system and may not target contaminants such as:

Common questions, honest answers

  • No — the Alka Jug goes significantly further than standard pitcher filters. While a typical pitcher uses basic carbon to reduce taste and odour, the Alka Jug's 5-layer cartridge also adds minerals back, raises pH to alkaline levels, and reduces ORP to antioxidant range. Standard pitchers strip water; the Alka Jug restores it.

  • No — the H₂ Essential Bottle does not filter water. It adds molecular hydrogen to clean drinking water via electrolysis. For best results, we recommend starting with filtered or tap water. It does not remove sediments, bacteria, or dissolved contaminants.

  • The bubbles are hydrogen gas being generated and dissolved into the water during electrolysis. This is completely normal and expected. Oxygen and trace by-products are separated from the drinking water through the gas separation process.



  • Hydrogen gradually escapes from water over time. For best results, drink your hydrogen-enriched water shortly after generation. This is why the portable bottle format works so well — generate and drink on the spot.

  • Each cartridge is rated for approximately 300 litres — around 5 months for an average household. You can track cartridge life using the drinking chart included with your jug, or use pH test drops to compare tap water vs. filtered jug water. Replacement cartridges are available directly from Ionza.

  • Yes — and this is exactly how the Essential Mineral System is designed to work. Fill the H₂ Bottle with already-mineralized Alka Jug water, run a hydrogen cycle, and you have water that is filtered, mineralized, alkaline, and hydrogen-activated. The complete stack.
