NITRATE X – Filter System - Nitrate free water finally in our home in Rolleston!!

Thanks to the NITRATE X system we can now enjoy water that is nitrate free. Selwyn water is saturated with nitrate, thanks to the dairy farming industry and even though the council says "within limits" its at the higher end and with the incidence of colon cancer, birth defects, nitrates should be at least at the lowest end. We now have good safe water at home. The customer service provided by Dean Fideles is amazing. So helpful and prompt and transparent. The system is not expensive. The plumber cost almost the same cost. The system is recommended and the value is much more than the cost. Recommended.

Removes 99% nitrate

So happy about our water testing this morning. We got a result of 6.25 on nitrate for our tap water (quite high) and our filter water was only 0.065 (practically nothing) so this cheap nitrate filter is removing 99% of our nitrate!!!

FAQ

Find the most frequently asked questions below.

The Nitrate X system is specifically designed to reduce nitrates in drinking water using a selective ion-exchange resin.
It also includes a carbon + KDF pre-filter, which helps reduce:
- Chlorine and treatment chemicals
- Heavy metals such as lead and aluminium
- Agricultural chemicals and organic contaminants
- Taste and odour
This creates a safer, cleaner base before nitrate reduction.
The NIT10 filter is designed to reduce approximately 90–95% of nitrates, depending on:
- Your starting nitrate levels
- Water usage
- Flow rate and contact time
Because nitrate levels vary significantly across New Zealand, actual performance depends on your specific water source.
Not usually.
Nitrate filters are most relevant for:
- Rural or agricultural areas
- Bore or well water
- Locations with known nitrate issues
If you're on town supply and unsure, it’s best to check your local water report or test your water before choosing this system.
No, this system is designed for dissolved contaminants (like nitrates), not microorganisms.
If your water source has potential bacterial risk (e.g. tank water), you may need to add an ultrafiltration stage for biological protection.
Yes.
The carbon + KDF stage improves:
- Taste
- Odour
- Overall drinking experience
The nitrate stage itself is focused on safety, but the system as a whole delivers noticeably cleaner water.
Yes, partially.
The carbon + KDF filter helps reduce heavy metals such as:
- Lead
- Aluminium
- Mercury
This stage also helps protect the nitrate filter and improve overall water quality.
Filter lifespan depends on your nitrate levels and usage.
As a guide:
- Around 1200 litres at ~10 mg/L nitrate levels
- Higher nitrate levels = shorter lifespan
- Lower nitrate levels = longer lifespan
For most households, this typically ranges from 6–12 months.
